July the 4th be with you

Henlo. I went upstate this past weekend with my friends and we played games, ate food, and hiked to a waterfall. It was good natured fun.

I cut my hair all stupid to make my friends laugh and it worked 🙂

My friends took advantage of me while I was in a vulnerable state

There was a bunch of us so to keep things fair and fun, we had meal groups. There were 2-3 people per group and each group had to plan a special meal for everyone. My group was struggling to think of something clever, so we landed on burgers, fries, and chicken. We had a fun twist though… the branding (this is horribly distasteful and inappropriate. I will only be sharing this publicly through this newsletter)

It was a long, fun weekend. And now it’s over. Wah :(

Yvonne John Drawing

While on this trip, Yvonne and I collaborated on a drawing. This is probably my favorite thing in the entire world. One of us starts with a drawing, and then after a timed 5 minutes, we pass the iPad to the other person and they try to continue our drawing and we do this until we get bored. I was super super super happy with how our drawing turned out:

I think its so beautiful. The flower ladies, the toe poster, the hairy foot and lady in the window. It’s as complex and as subliminal as your average picasso (lol). What I love most about it, is that you can’t really distinguish what I drew from what Yvonne drew. The styles blend really well.

OPEN CALL

Last week, I sent out an open call to ya’ll to participate in my content series. Here was the idea:

Our memories are precious to us and unfortunately only exist in our brains and through word-of-mouth. I'd love to provide you with an alternate way of remembering the moments you cherish :)

Tell me a memory (as a voice recording). It can be a funny memory, a sad memory, a memory of a crazy near-death experience, a fight/conflict you had with someone, a memory that taught you a lesson. Any story you're compelled to tell. But preferably a memory that has no existing video or photo documentation.

I will draw your memory as a comic and overlay your voice onto the panels in a video. I'll try to be as accurate to the story as possible, with some visual quirks. Then, for the second part of the video, I'll give you a call and share the comic with you over screen share! Or I can share it with you in person. Afterwards, you'll tell me how accurate my interpretation was from 1%-100% and point out things that were right and things that were wrong! Or you can leave a takeaway from your experience. Or you can just react and say you like it. Or that you hate it. I hope you like it though haha

It takes time to remember a good memory. If one comes to ya, LMK! I’m hoping that once I get the first video done, people will understand the content better and I can get more participants.

Hopefully ya’ll will see the first memory soon! I’m a bit swamped this week with work, illo asks, and travel BUT I’M COMMITTED TO THIS IDEA 😤 I LOVE IT!
